Pat Robertson has recently asked whether people who have sex with ducks are protected by hate crimes legislation; two young women engage take a satirical take with "sex with ducks". Both at Feminist Law Professors. It does remind me of a South Australian MP several years ago who argued that the decriminalisation of prostitution would lead to sex with ducks. What is it with ducks? Are they thinking of ducks with giant penises?

Recent addition to Casa di Lafayette/Hoehnhauss has been a video projector; a Hitachi XSGA CPSX5500. Several years ago these cost $10,000 and whilst the technology was superior to standard LCD, they were outrageously expensive; even a replacement globe costs over $1,000. So work bought three new projectors for their Access Grid room and I'm borrowing this old one. The resolution is very good, but the colour is a heavy shade of blue; hopeless for colour films, but excellent for our vast collection of black and white classic films (and caseopaya knows her classics) projecting a 'screen' of some 2m by 1.5m.

Other recent entertainment includes an excellent game on Friday eve of Insectes and Companie (PDF, French language, translation coming) run by Fabrice and on the Sunday session of GURPS Krononauts which involved Hernan Cortes capturing of Moctezuma in the middle of his own capital and his subsequent sortie of against the 1,000 Spanish soldiers sent to arrest him (Wikipedia summary available). Whilst I have little friendly to say about his imperialism (although they did put an end to religious human sacrifice) one cannot help but be thoroughly impressed by his strategic and tactical genius mixed with an extraordinary confidence in his own abilities.

Let me work that out.. Two-thirds of the White House plus three-quarters of the United States equals more heterosexual couples than single women who are greater in number than male same-sex couples which equals sex with tortoises :)

But WHERE ARE THE LESBIANS?! My God, it's a lesbian-free world. The horror! That must be what causes male-sexual acts with such creatures...

Their concern is that if one "perversity" is allowed then it will be open slather for any others. You know, it might even lead to dancing eventually.

But more realistically, is there any justification for their concerns? Especially considering that the gay rights movement is based on universalising the rights of consenting adults.

I can think of one situation where this might apply; genetic uplifting of animals to adult human intelligence..

I can't possibly imagine a situation where organisations like NAMBLA have the same degree of support as gay rights advocates, in part given that NAMBLA was expelled from the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, but more importantly that the principle of consent seems to be fundamentally different.

Something I do note about such organisations like NAMBLA and their supporters is they don't differentiate between biological and legal categories. But then again, I see that conflation used by their puritan opponents as well..

It would require an enormous number of other changes. It would have to come with massive conceptual changes in contract law, citizenship and voting rights, criminal responsibility etc. all of which would at least require some backing by the appropriate professional associations along with developmental psychologists.

I suspect you're wrong - unless, of course, the rich sense that there's serious money to be made by making something such as NAMBLA legal. But under the US system, at least, it's easier for conservatives to prevent any changes to a law than it is for moderates to push them through.

therefore sex with ducks must rock more and be the ultimate pleasure and taboo.

but the whole fundo and neo-conservative attitude that if you allow gay marriage than they will make bestiality legal and other such nonsense.
There is no social imperative for such action nor is there an acceptance of it, so they use it as scare-mongering of the ignorant.
As a dear poly-sexual friend recently put it "Bestiality is the September 11 of Gay Marriage". The mentioning of it in any context strikes fear into the stupid.

Oh that's the slippery slope you see... Once gay marriage is accepted then who know what will come out the woodwork.

Of course, given that the gay rights movement has been around the principle of consenting adults deserve to be able to make their own decisions and deserve the same rights one would have to find a duck with adult human intelligence....

and true but I don't realy think that there will ever be a time where society sees a need to allow people to marry animals or do anything else with them.
Nothing to gain from it but you never know what wackos may appear to push it (like PETA or Furries).

Check the colour balance setting on your projector. It may have a white balance function which will bring all of the colours back to square & you can then adjust the RBG individually

Done all that (indeed did it when they were still installed at work and before we purchased new machines)... It's a sadly dying liquid crystal on globe.. But for the time being it's just fine..
