Well, [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya and I have a new home.
Here it is
. It's big and deco inside. It includes a lock up garage. It's three minutes walk from Ripponlea station. I reckon it's a damn good place.

Gaming over the weekend was very British. In [livejournal.com profile] droog64's Arthurian HeroQuest game my character, a fey-blooded Celtic hunter named Silvanius, finally had the spotlight on him at a time when he could use his abilities. Firstly, he convinced Arthur not to engage his army in battle against the Saxons in the standard Celtic style, but rather to make heavy use of missile weapons and skirmish warfare before bringing in the main body of troops. After that he tripped out to the faerie realm with the Irish druid, Mareed, to recover the Four Treasures, which will hopefully sway the Britons from the fanatical Christian path that Arthur has been converted to.

In Sunday's AD&D Norman Britian game the party of erstwhile venturers defeated the Cornish arms smugglers and discovered liaison with humanoid lizards, clearly servents of Satan even if the Druid seems to think they are part of nature. My Paladin character, Sir duc Sean of the Innocent, has taken up a young man as a squire, Tom of Saltmarsh who has proven himself to be brave, lawful and good. Retro module, The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (modified to HARP pdf!), is complete. Our GM, Sean, was clever enough to introduce several characters and scenes from Alfred Hitchcock's Jamaica Inn.

More serious analysis of real world affairs and technical adventures will resume again in the next post ;-)

Thanks muchly. Both rats and rabbit will enjoy it as well, I'm sure...

BTW, I've been meaning to mention that's a smashing icon you have.

You're about 15 minutes walk from where I live, in the block formed by Glenhuntly, Glen Eira, Orrong and Kooyong roads.

Nice area, isn't it? And it doesn't take long to get used to the Orthodox guys going to Schule in their silk dressing gowns and bear-skin hats, even in January...

We passed some of the amazing hats on Saturday.

I want one. I want to go clubbing in one. And the silk dressing gown.

Can you get fake bear skin versions? I really don't want a bear to suffer on account of me wearing a symbol which doesn't even reflect my religious orientation.

Wow, it's huge! Brilliant house. Renting or buying?

Renting at the moment...

It's also not just one house; rather it's four flats.

It's still very big inside and has good common grounds.

Still nice and big split into four ;) Congrats. It's handy living near PT.

"What you talkin bout Willis?"
I thought that D&D (in any shape or form, from the red book, through to AD&D - both editions, and now 3.x) are real life. :)

Next you'll tell me the easter bunny doesn't exist.

Damn, am I a geek or what? Btw, love the outside of the new place

Well, I must confess our "historical fantasy" style does have a very slight dose of seriousness about it.

The GM has bought a book descriptively entitled "The Year 1000", which means he can describe in loving detail the day-to-day events of our lives in Cornwall.

Next you'll tell me the easter bunny doesn't exist.

It's a chocolate egg distributing rabbit of fecundity!

Btw, love the outside of the new place

Good, we'll have to have you and [livejournal.com profile] bar_bar_ella over for dinner and dice... Actually you should join one of our many games if you not doing so at the moment. I think you'd enjoy it...

Fine food too. Definitely need fine food.

Nice place. I don't think it's terribly far from where I used to live too (IIRC, it was #120 or thereabouts, between Hotham St and Glen Eira Rd).

From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

Yep, that's pretty nearby. We had a look actually at a place quite close to there, but it was way to seventies for our taste...

Another pad for you to crash at next time you grace our fair town!

Ooh. Fat pad.

Indeed it is... And the local area is real nice too. Just within walking distance of the riotious assembly of St Kilda but just far enough not to have to put up with the more distatesful side of such a red-light district.

Thanks kindly.... Please come to our house cooling/house warming as well!

I reckon it's a damn good place.

Strangely enough so do I :) Almost wish we could move instantaneously

You won't even notice the move ;-)

Yes I will. I'll start packing at some stage this week

When is the move? Will there be a housewarming? :)

-Sam, asking the most important and hard-hitting questions ;P

From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

Well we have a 2 week crossover period when we're both at Eildon Rd and at Brighton Rd. So by about the 14th of August I reckon we'll be settled in.

I'm tempted to move everything out of Eildon Rd and have a party there ;-)

Date: 2006-07-31 06:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] devilgirly.livejournal.com
Why not have both?

House cooling - wild party in empty space - and then house warming - civilized party to show off new house ;)

From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

My dear Samantha, you are both naughty and clever!

Well, congratulations!

I seem to remember looking at that place when we were house-hunting a while ago. If I recall rightly, it was rather nice. Good luck with moving and all that!

Date: 2006-07-31 06:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

Goodness, you almost beat us to it ;-)

Actually we were very lucky. The morning we decided to take it was the same morning they dropped the rent by $15pw. That's a ticket to Bali in my book!

Date: 2006-08-01 04:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shadow-5tails.livejournal.com
Nah, you were safe. This was almost three years ago - and, probability dictates, one of the other three (or was it five?) apartments in the building.

Dropped rent is good, too, though that'd be a very cheap flight to Bali. You'd be lucky to get duct-taped onto the wing at that price! *giggle*

Date: 2006-08-01 05:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

*nods* three other apartments.

As for a ticket to Bali, I meant annually not every week ;-)

$15pw * 52 = $780

Date: 2006-08-01 05:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shadow-5tails.livejournal.com
Yeah, but it's much less silly that way. And you've known me long enough to know the Silly is strong in this one...

You're pulling my leg, right?

Congrats on the good find. The tree branches make it look a little creepy, although i'm sure its not ;)

From: [identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com

Oh, a little bit of creepy just adds character to a place ;-)

Hell, Ripponlea is a bit creepy itself. Especially that rambling hothouse garden they have. That's quite spooky.

I know that place! Mr Pxx & I used to live two streets up on the St Kilda side of Glen Eira.

Bala Dabaladabahahsa (I can never remember what its actually called) is just around the corner & without a doubt is the best curry house I have ever been to.

Looks lovely.

I know that curry house. [livejournal.com profile] severina_242 and I have eaten there a couple of times. It was slightly on the expensive side (but we're used to el-cheapo Radah in east Elsternwick), but I racll I was mightily impressed.

Given the enormous range of eating places in Ripponlea, I'm sure we'll be frequent said abode a few times...

Looking forward to Thursday...
