[livejournal.com profile] imajica_lj encountered the joys ridiculous joys of dealing with Australia Post today. A petty bureaucrat overrode the requirements on their own forms and couldn't work out how an organisation (i.e., Linux Users Victoria) could operate without official letterhead. I didn't resist the opportunity to snidely remark "We use email. Perhaps you've heard of it". Nevertheless all sorted and all prepared for the Annual General Meeting tomorrow. We have the right number of people for the right number of committee positions. I predict that [livejournal.com profile] imajica_lj will be returned for another glorious term as president, I shall ascend to the lofty heights of vice-president and [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya and [livejournal.com profile] claudine_c will also join the committee.

It hasn't been fun in the IT world the past few days. The servers for Fastmail and Speedymail have turned in their grave making my main webmail account inactive. I have to deal with messages on those accounts by tomorrow, but being 1100th in the queue means it isn't likely. Borderlands have migrated to a new webhost (a decision made many moons ago, and hopefully others will soon follow), albeit users are having a couple of hiccups on their client configurations. Tomorrow I go fix.

This Thursday is the 116th annual Henry George Dinner at the Prince Patrick Hotel, 135 Victoria Pde Collingwood 3066 (between Wellington and Hoodle), this Thursday night. Come along anytime after 6.30pm, it's pay as you go. You only have to put up with one boring speech by myself as President of Prosper Australia and then something more sensible by Professor Mike Young, of Adelaide University and CSIRO water expert, talking about the economics of water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink...

Last Friday attended a fairwell function for Frans and Anitra who are moving to NSW Blue Mountains. Frans was the convenor of the Labor Left-Pledge Unions faction of the ALP for many years and Anitra was a lecturer at RMIT. Afterwards went to 2600.

On the path of fear and stupidity, Prime Minister Howard declares that "the war against terrorism" will last a lifetime, and the Pope's exorcists declares Harry Potter to be Satanic. For something positive, the UK Tories are beginning to move left, denouncing previous positions on the African National Congress and wanting a positive relationship with the public service.

Well, the ANC were terrorists, from the viewpoint of the South African government of the time. If he means "er, they won, didn't they? We didn't mean to be nasty, honest," er ...

Perhaps they were conviently labelled terrorists at the time for the purposes of the UK arms export industry.

Ah, the good ol' Vatican, equating witchcraft with satanism again. I wish they'd do their bloody research!

The transition is:

Harry Potter -> Dungeons & Dragons -> Neopaganism -> Hitler -> Satan.

Easy really.

Personally, I think Satan gets a bad rap.

Seriously I must have had about 250 points of ID, none of them photographic however ... Irony is now spelled "We can issue you a passport with all that ID, but I can't give you a post office box ... without a passport."

> Afterwards went to 2600

I think the appropriate phrase here would be: "Shown the real meaning of Christmas".
Kids today ... :P

> I predict that imajica_lj will be returned for another glorious term as president,

Is that Buttle or Tuttle?

You just set a new standard for them to aspire to. It's educational.

One candidate dude :)

Nah, I haven't actually ever played 'The Keep on the Borderlands', and besides setting up a subdomain so you can have kobolds@thekeep.borderlands... seems much more appropriate.
