Melbourne Demonstration for Civil Liberties, on the steps of Parliament House, Saturday October 22nd at 1pm. Jon Stanhope provides the draft of the new "anti-terrorism" laws. Have a read of the DPP assessment in particular. [livejournal.com profile] erudito gently reminds us that there's no point opposing this legislation unless we are also opposed to the Racial and Religious Vilification Act.

Yet another reminder. This Sunday, extended service, Melbourne Unitarian Church, 110 Grey St, 11am. "Natural Selection versus Intelligent Design". Why not astrology? It's just as scientific as ID. Funding Intelligent Design and 'research' against global warming; the same people (from [livejournal.com profile] taavi. Chief proponent of ID, Dr. Michael Behe, isn't much of a scientist (from [livejournal.com profile] lederhosen. The science behind so-called irreducible complexity

Thanks to the joys of the Melbourne Public Transport system I missed by Cisco class on Wednesday. Instead, I read the Introduction to Cisco Router Configuration. Obviously on a roll, I decided to read Perfomance Tuning for Linux Servers, written by some real cluey IBM engineers, and to finish off Eric Raymond's enjoyable The Art of Unix Programming. Also, I've been programming. In Java because I want to write a MUD, with graphics even, derived from the Mimesis rules and with historical fantasy settings. On-topic I forget to mention in my last entry that I attended a Novell Users Group meeting as a LUV exec member with [livejournal.com profile] imajica_lj. Nice people, but they don't understand open source. Yet.

Session on gaining media coverage for Prosper Australia. Last session is next week, on Planning and Implementation. Apparently there's a couple of resource-rents people visiting from Wellington as well. What do they have planned for me I wonder?

Multiple crazy brain breakers: Of course, it won't happen in Australia: Workers at auto parts maker Delphi Corp. will be asked this week to take a two-thirds pay cut. Marijuana makes rat's brains grow (from [livejournal.com profile] boyamihardcore). From [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya Rat outsmarts scientists for four months. Looking over it I can see what you mean. Sorry! It's been a clicky-clicky past few days.

If you want a single one go for the God Does Not Want 16 Kids. You'll laugh.

Thank you for that. Absolutely magnificant.

I've been reading some of Raymond's 'blog. His politics are ... ahh, interesting.
