Today is Sysadmin Appreciation Day, which has the acronym SAD for usually good reason. But this year, both

Preparations are underway for the Indonesia journey starting next week. Arrive in Bali on Tuesday afternoon, will probably stay in Sanur then make our way to Ubud then across to eastern and central Java; Surabaya, Semerang and Yogyakarta before turning back. Very much wish to spend some time working on a anthropological comparison between Borobudur, Prambanan and animist worship of Merapi. I'd dearly love to visit Borneo and Sulawesi, but I rather suspect that will be difficult within the two-week window.
Two major social events to report on; one was the visit of
mr_figgy, all the way from the land of the red maple leaf. The other, equally red, was seeing Anitra Nelson's play Servant of the Revolution, which explored the rarely commented relationship between the Karl Marx, Helene Demuth and Frederich Engels. With a modest set and much of the performance based around the tension and debates between the latter two characters and the never-ending debate between the real and ideal.
