As expected I landed the contract to do server migration (Red Hat Linux and Apache) and general sysadmin tasks for DataLink. Work for InMatrix continues. This weeks adventure will be building a Windows 2003 server with IIS 6.0 for an intranet. New to both these products, have nearly finished reading the O'Reilly book for Windows Server 2003 and they say good things about it. Also this week I've done anothe Red Friday (about time!) which includes an introduction to C++ programmming and will eventually become a "programming for games" tutorial series. It also includes an article on retro gaming for [livejournal.com profile] luciousmalfroy.

Whilst on topic, completed the first episode of Outbreak of Heresy after four sessions. The good guys (the party) won of course. I'd thought I'd done well having by putting them up against a insane natural philosopher keeping their near-dead wife alive for years and a child-murdering psychopath who thought he was a werewolf. The reality comes along and gives me this (via [livejournal.com profile] monkeygirldiva; Romanian nun dies in excorcism ritual. In other gaming news after all those years I've finally picked up a copy (imported from the UK no less) of Cults of Prax and Cults of Terror. Brilliant stuff.

Have been invited to speak at the Beyond Federation conference with Senator Lyn Allison of the Democrats.Interested to discover that the Labor for Refugees protest received some international coverage over its recent rally in The Epoch Times, Haoyah and Dajiyuan. Noted Laurie Ferguson's recent sacking from the front bench with recognition that we probably played our part in his downfall.

The Melbourne Unitarians are having two consecutive speakers on industrial relations reform, the first Darrell Cochrane of the Australian Services Union did a pretty good job at giving a summary of the major changes afoot and next week is a report from a New Zealand unionist on how they coped with changes up there. If you work for a living it's probably worth reading these.

In other news, finished my review of Traci Harding's Gene of Isis for [livejournal.com profile] valeskah1. It really wasn't that good.
