We like to drink....

By recent estimates I've been downing a bottle and a half per day of some very nice reds, verdelho, vinhu verde (yes! I found some!) and various white wines over the better part of the past week. I've been drinking like a fish; as bodgirl says.. "glubeddy glub glub-glub!". Hmmm.. Maybe time to go easy on it.
In attempt to escape the grand final weekend, caseopaya and I ran off to Benalla, a very nice country town in north-east Victoria. This is Ned Kelly's old domain, and the home of "Weary" Dunlop. The local museum was quite a good effort given the size of the place and the same goes for the local art gallery.
Drinking withSeverina_242 can be a risky affair. Rather than walk an extra two minutes to Parliament station we decided to spend the night at the Windsor hotel on a whim. Now I know how the rich sleep. In very comfortable beds, thank you very much.
The perils of unemployment is beginning to bite as my bank account diminishes rapidly. I have sacked my compulsory job network service as it was clear they were unable to provide what I needed. Instead, I have started looking at the some of the more top-notch IT and executive recruitment services. So far so good... But tomorrow is a dreaded interview with Centrefink.
As capsule reviews of pop culture, Pirates of the Caribbean is of standard Disney fare (i.e., a total disregard for historical facts) with some trashy choreographed and utterly unrealistic swashbuckling scenes, although the charms of Johnny Depp were readily apparent. The only videos I've stuck my eyes on in the past week or so have been the classic El Cid (Sophia Loren performs and dresses with brilliance) and the very underrated retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood, A Company of Wolves, based on Angela Carter's book.
I think I've reached my limits of soaking in this weird environment known as advanced industrial society and am about to return to my active and serious "do-er".
Stay tuned...
