2010: The Year That Was

Well, that was a pretty damn fine year, it really was. I did a lot, dammit.
Obviously the Civil Union with
caseopaya rates as the most important event in my world for the year. Although purchasing and moving in to our new home at Willsmere estate was quite pleasant as well. I suspect planning (well in advance) our retirement by having an offer accepted for the former Freemason's Lodge in Dunedin completes that set.
Attended Linux Conf 2010 in Wellington. Become President of Linux Users of Victoria. Presentated at the IT Enables conference. Relating to both work and an academic endeavour I also finished a Graduate Certificate in Management (Technology), then a Graduate Diploma and now I've finished all the prerequisites for an MBA (Technology), with only some electives to complete this year. Courses completed include; Strategic Management, Contemporary People Management, Economic Decision Making, Business Law, Marketing, and Managing Information Systems.
Was a delegate to the ANZUUA/ICUU conference. Gave three addresses at the Unitarians (The Evolution of the Human Spirit, Faith, Deeds and Salvation, Strangers, Sojourners and Commonwealth, took the service four times, gave several presentations for the Philosophy Forum and came within three votes of being elected chairperson of the Church.
Attended World Con. Wrote a chapter for Fox Magic, the kitsune RPG. On RPG.net reviewed Cyberpunk 2020, Cyberspace, The Riddle of Steel, Pendragon, Dragon Age, Terran Trade Authority, 3:16 Carnage Among The Stars, Perilous Lands, Powers & Perils, Torg, and Trail of Cthulhu. Finished the RuneQuest Prax story after almost three years. Brought out four issues of RPG Review.
Founded a political association. Managed to convince some 20 religious celebrants and equivalent to support a statement on same-sex marriage. Gave a presentation on the Henry Review at the local ALP branch. Spoke at the Singularity Summit on Social Formations in A Transhumanist World.
Attended one concert which I reviewed on Rocknerd. Not very rock 'n' roll of me. :)
Was published in The Age on local supercomputing power, and a brief comment on Abbot's policy on personally assessing asylum seekers. Received a acknowledgement in Ken Westmoreland's book "A Pretty Unfair Place", about East Timor. Visited the dentist for the first time in 28 years or so. My teeth were fine! Then one gets a crack in it and I need root canal therapy. Curses! ... And valedictions to our dear departed furry friends, Astaroth rabbit, Calamity rat and Mischief rat.
Really enjoyed NYE at Euchronia; there were some very fancy steampunk toys, bands, fire breathers, and a lot of people dressed to the nines. Lots of photos available.

Date: 2011-01-05 12:24 pm (UTC)I hope this year can be as good - but obviously in a different way. I don't think I should have another civil union, for example :)
