We've made the move (special thanks to Michael C.), somehow managed to avoid the chaos of Melbourne's weather, and unpacked most of our boxes. My god, we have a lot of books. [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya dragged me down to the local shopping mall - the second time in almost as many years - to purchase a new fridge and washing machine machine. Despite some good items I'm still boycotting Samsung, you evil fuckers. A couple of days later she decided our bed needed an upgrade with a very thick futon mattress. Good lord, it's all far too middle class for my "street-kid" sensibilities.

Have discovered that our new home was a residence for one of Melbourne's original anarchists, David Andrade. On a more contemporary level, a few weeks back I saw Melbourne's most well-known anarchist, Dr. Joe Toscano, speak at the Melbourne Unitarian Church on his favourite issues (direct democracy vs representative democracy). Later I managed to coax him into giving an interview (of sorts) on the Isocracy Network.

Ran a training course with the new manual last week. Teaching feedback was excellent, although the facilities were madly crowded. Currently working on the intermediate version of the course. Today is the last day for our senior network engineer, Andy Botting, who's off to the UK. It's the latest in a run of significant staff changes in the systems department with the systems and operations manager both leaving last year for VLSCI. I'll miss Andy; he's incredibly switched on, conscientious and simply a great guy to be around.

The best purchase I've made was going for a good quality mattress. The quality of your sleep really makes a big difference to your day. Cumulatively, it adds up to a huge impact on quality of life.

Re the whitegoods, I feel your pain ;). At least it's out of the way for the next 15-10 years :).

I suppose... I tend to sleep pretty well, however regardless of the flooring/matress etc.

As for the white goods, yeah, I hope for at least 15 years. :)

Hate to break it to you Lev, but you're living in Kew now. Middle class is as bad as it gets.

But.. but there's bridges there.. Surely I can find a Salvo's blanket and sleep under one?

Sure Lev, if that's what you want to do, please be my guest :)
