Festive gatherings included attendance at a hanukkah-solstice gathering hosted by JenneP, my favourite pagan Jew. Caught up with many old Laborites and former attendees of old cocktail parties. On Christmas Day spent the day at Brendan Es where I cooked up a feast of salmon steaks, with dill and sour cream, insalata caprese and rye, followed by smoked turkey and roasted veggies, followed by stewed fruit with brandied (calvados) cream. Finally managed to see 28 Weeks Later and was intrigued by Nerdcore Rising.

Major clashes are occuring in Iran, following the death of reformist cleric Hosein-Ali Montazeri. The seizure of opposition figures is indicitive of a regime in crisis. Meanwhile the Australia is now blocking a graphic protest video from said country.

RPG Review is late (again), but should be out within a week. Good interview received by Greg Stafford, and excellent designer's notes from Greg Spearing for WordPlay and [livejournal.com profile] tashiro's Fox Magic. I have reviewed both for RPG.net; was very impressed with WordPlay and would like to see Fox Magic revised as it has great potentional.

Owch. :) But honest. Makes me think I should probably hit it again before it goes into print.

Substance-wise what is there is a good foundation. It's not a bad thing to want more :)

Damnit, that bloody bet filtering and censorship is already here - we don't have to wait for legislation. Grrr! I really hope something good will from from the unrest in Iran, but am not hopeful.

Makes you wonder what the censorship will be after the legislation.

There's a certain and unfortunate irony about Australia blocking protest videos from Iran, isn't there?

Not when yopu consider that we went from a Wanker style of government to a Wowser one. I fully intend to do a comic on this for the next Querelle.

That's a pretty accurate summation of the two styles. Of course, the previous regime was wowser as well...

True, but the Wanker part was dominant!

Oh, I used to host quite a few back in the day. They're very silly, people fall over like skittles. It's been a couple of years since we've had one, but that was quite a success as well.

At the moment the dominant drinks in the liquor cabinet are cognacs and brandies.
