Ah, I haven't seen a flame like that for many years. Most entertaining. For the record I'm in the camp that Red/Blue D&D sucked majorly.
Traveler, & Runequest were and probably are still my all time favorite systems. We were in the 11-13 year old category at the time. The rules were honestly too difficult, so we did a way with a lot of them. I think Blakes Seven and Dr Who were on telly at the time, and that was a far bigger influence in getting me into roleplaying.
