Friday was (hopefully) the final exam for my MBA - perhaps appropriately on Leadership, which was quite an enjoyable subject all said. It certainly understood - from the outset - that leadership is a dialectical process (a leader must have followers) and covered a good range of subject matter on this general theme (strategy, communication, motivation, decision-making). Afterwards went to Elegy, a peformance of the Australian ballet accompanied by Fauré’s Requiem and a selection from Bach. Particularly enjoyed the black-clad modernism of the former, and the somewhat light-hearted classical style and baroque customing of the latter.
Today was the ever meeting of the Victoria Secular Lobby. With a enthusiastic attendance, we have decided to become an incorporated association, make fundraising efforts for the High Court challenge against the NSCP, perhaps raising a challenge against the Equal Opportunity Act Amendments (where the state government is supporting utterly vile religious bigotry), and most importantly co-ordinating input of the many and varied organisations who have the objectives of the Lobby in mind, but not as their primary orientation.
Next week I have to run two-day long training sessions at work; Introduction to High Performance Computing Using Linux and Intermediate High Performance Computing Using Linux (the latter is the first time the session has been run). Courses have been so popular they are being run again next month (usually quarterly). Apropos next week I leave for New Zealand to give a presentation on ... teaching researchers how to use high performance computing. When I return will be presenting at the LUV Geelong mini-conference on Linux for Business. The day prior to leaving I am giving a presentation at the Humanity+ conference on the computation of moral reasoning, followed by an address at the Unitarian Church. Naturally enough, I spent this evening then hacking out PHP code to generate characters for a long out-of-print roleplaying game.
