Of Priests, Anarchists and Social Events
Jul. 29th, 2010 07:42 amAs part of the Victorian Secular Network the post-work evenings have been spent trying to get in contact with various clergy who support same-sex marriage on the grounds that existing laws are a form of religious discrimination. The completion of the statement survey happily coincides with the National Day of Action for the same. If you know any clerical individuals who would like to add their name to the list, please tell me!
Melbourne's most well known anarchist, and public officer of the Isocracy Network, Dr. Joe Toscano, is leading a ticket for "radical independents" for the Senate. His platform argues against corporate welfare, a public bank, mutualist economics, a climate and population plan based on scientific research, a treaty with the indigenous population and other very good policies.
Social events have, not surprisingly, had a typical SF/fantasy flavour to them of late. A "bad movie" night at the home of Brendan E., saw The Giant Claw, a classic 50s SF b-movies, and the delightfully silly Bubba Hotep, which features a black JFK and an Elvis impersonator at a nursing home for the delusionary insane. Following this a visit to Jacqui and Damien's witnessed another game of Britannia (previously linked), and along the same tangent, recent sessions of RuneQuest with the Haunted Ruins supplement and HeroQuest scenario High Pressure Front.
