Politics, to the majority unprincipled view, is about power, not what is right or wrong. Wars are all terrible, but the principles of just war theory are founded at least on a utilitarian ethic of reducing suffering. I have spoken a few time in the past on the subject:

The purchase of the Joint Strike Fighters cannot, in any way, be considered an act of defense (except under that ridiculous euphemism "forward defense") . They are entirely design for the invasive attacks on others.
