On Doc Weasel's remark, what is said is very true and inightful, but of course being "plot driven" and "character driven" are not exclusive in actual play. Handled correctly (and I think we did that), it just turns the crank of the awesomeness level up a notch because it provided a beautiful golden opportunity for additional conflict between what the Guards wanted to do (character-wise) and what they had to do (plot wise). Which is a hell of a driver in a story.
