The past week, in brief:

Attended two UN training sessions on Domain Name Administration. They left a lot to be desired.

Finished editing the Users manual. Half way on SMPT setup. Half way in translating the Ministerial website to Portuguese and Bahasa-Malay.

Had a small group lunch (seven of us) with some local senior military officers and international advisors. One of the characters included the FANATIL officer (now a colonel) who warned the Australian reporters at Balibo in 1975 that the Indonesian army was on its way. "We'll be alright, we're Australians" was the reply. Famous last words.

Will be away for a few days at a FANATIL-FTDL barracks in Metinaro discussing drafts of regional security and foreign policies for the Ministry.

I'll make sure I discuss the conditions of my presence to the local crocodiles. I'm sure they'll understand.

"Senhor Lafaek, lae han hau, hau nianian labriak-boot".

That worked on the last one.

I'll just sit here folding newsletters and writing cheque requisitions and express wonderment at the pure mundaneness of my life.

;)

You know, sometimes I am envious of mundaneness. I mean nary an assault rifle in sight, no need to understand four or more languages, no fear that a misfolded newspaper may threaten regional stability.... It seems quite a pleasant existence really.

Then my insanity kicks in..

I know what SMTP it, what's SMPT? :P

You never replied to my previous comment.

How.. ru... boring! of you :)

I thought my life had been exciting lately with Nextep randomly pulling the plug on Rockdale city coucil without notifying anyone and watching hell break loose.

You win, hands down.

SMPT? A spelling mistake?

Hey, Rockdale City Council and all hell breaking loose is pretty exciting too. I mean Rockdale City Council probably has a bigger budget and more staff than this Ministry....
