Rabbit News, Refugees, Torture and Tampa, Gaming and Gaming Speech

Rabbit news: [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya and I have a very cute little Netherland's Dwarf rabbit. "Astaroth" is playful, inquisitive, active and affectionate. As [livejournal.com profile] doctor_k_ shows adorably cute. It is a shame I'm a allergic to the little lagamorph and have come out with a rash all over my body.

Last Sunday at the Unitarians was Clare Lincoln from the Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture. One very interesting point in her presentation was ackowledging that asylum seekers who are incarcerated in Australia often suffer mental problems which they cannot assist (as they are not refugees yet) which are significantly worsened by their period in detention. It complemented Joann Lynn's presentation the previous week from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Further on topic, this coming Saturday is the MV Tampa memorial day. Come along between 11:30 and 11:55 assemble at the Flinders St end of the Sandridge Bridge. The procession will move to the "red stairs" at the Southbank end of the Sandridge Bridge. Activities at the red stairs include an indigenous welcome, a speech by Julian Burnside, performances by Arnold Zable, Kavisha Mazzella, Shaking the Tree, and Khalil Gudaz. Despite public opinion still opposed to leniency towards asylum seekers, once one understands how they are being treated in this country it is morally impossible to turn away from their plight.

In gaming related news played Cybernoia on Sunday. The PCs are now engaging in a military-style commando raids against the Australian army and are wanted by Interpol. I do enjoy a plot where the scale accelerates. Last Thursday I spoke at the Sea of Faith on Devils, Pagan Gods and Polyhedrons. Those who actually understood roleplaying games (whether through direct or indirect exposure) asked sensible questions and those who didn't asked ridiculous ones confusing it with computer games or "cowboys and indians". A welcome surprise attendee was Denny, who was supposed to be in Perth!

There have been comments about stew. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] caseopaya's comments reiterated. Give us a few days to clear out the boxes. How about this weekend?

OK, no stew then... But I can't go on with hives, antihistamines and steriod creams for ten years, can I?

I know. It's just I'll miss the gorgeous little thing, she follows me around everywhere. Not to mention the fact that I have really missed having a bunny to snuggle with :(

The caseopaya bunny is very sad at this development.

I'll miss the li'll hopper too. Evidently we'll have to give it away to someone who lives nearby or whom we visit a lot.
