Rest: A Foreign Concept

It's been such an incredibly busy past few days; and it shows no signs of letting up. Saturday was spent at WorldCon, where I had the opportunity to spend some time with Nick Stathopoulos, [livejournal.com profile] cheshirenoir, [livejournal.com profile] strangedave and [livejournal.com profile] darklion. Particularly enjoyed [livejournal.com profile] strangedave's presentation on Sorcerers and Storytellers.

On Sunday had three presentations to give; an address at the Unitarian Church on Strangers, Sojourners and Commonwealth, followed by delivering the session at the Philosophy Forum on Homer's Odyssey. This was followed by GMing a session of RuneQuest, where the PCs are travelling in the Puzzle Canal during Sacred Time (this only means something to Gloranthafiles); this followed a session of Mouse Guard on Thursday night and absolutely epic (near) conclusion to the D&D Fantasy Australia game on Monday night. Monday was spent at home, taking TiL, to complete an assignment on Strategic Management. I have chosen the Unitarian Church as the organisation of choice; on a related note I've accepted a nomination for chairperson in elections due in a few weeks.

Just attended the opening session of the Singularity Summit at the very nice Capitol Theatre with the presentation by Stelarc. Following this, off to the Linux User's Victoria Annual General Meeting, to fulfil my duties as as Public Officer for said organisation, and then being nominated (and elected unopposed) as President.

I have a much overdue post on the Australian elections and Gillard's election as Prime Minister of a minority government; next post for sure!

shall read the next post carefully. I'm alread "over" the fact that there's a new government. Nothing much has changed - yet.

I did read that there were a number of projects stalled because of the hung parliament; including parts of the NBN, and some drugs waiting to go on the PBS and a couple of other things from an article which I can't hunt down atm. Presumably this will now change.

Should have guessed you'd be at worldcon. My husband and I flew down for it and are now touring Victoria on motorbikes. (Currently in a lovely hotel in Halls Gap.)
