I suppose I really should mention...

... that I suggested to [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya that we get a civil union in accordance with Victorian law.

She said yes.

(I "blame", in part, [livejournal.com profile] airiefairie's excellent proposal for ending state-sanctioned marriage in favour of civil unions for all, and [livejournal.com profile] beagl and [livejournal.com profile] kimeros for cutting a similar path. Thanks for the inspiration.)

At least there is the added advantage that my remaining parent is in Perth - and hasn't been told yet :)

Grats!! Seems everyone's doing it!

[identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
.. and I don't have to worry about mine :)

Although I probably should see if we can drag Bruce T. over from the western lands. It's about time he went on a holiday.

I'll volunteer spooky - you can throw the rings on her tail until you need them. Plus she already has her own white cravat.

[identity profile] ehintz.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, congrats mate...

We're sort of the yank equivalent, having become commonlaw in Texas back around '95 or so. :)

No and won't be missed either. There is only so much bad behaviour and hypocrisy that one can take, bloodkin or not.

Apparently one can indeed choose their relatives.

[identity profile] tcpip.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well after seven years it's probably time. You can get less for manslaughter ;)

[livejournal.com profile] drhozwas surprised when his brother showed up at his wedding dressed as a Ringwraith..

Perhaps tiny Elizabethan ruffs for the fuzzies? It'd be cute, and forestall mayhem.

:P

How fabulous! It's a great and wonderful thing to do.
