A Pop Culture Post: Music and Movies

I am quite fond of a certain dream-pop/post-punk band known as The Chameleons, and I recently managed to get a copy of their third album, Strange Times and have put in an order for a live DVD. Never particularly famous they've attracted a small and dedicated fan-base. Now here's some very tasty news - they're bringing out a special 25th anniversary edition of Script of the Bridge, which is considered by some to be one of the best items of contemporary music and lyrics available.

Spent last night with [livejournal.com profile] recumbenteer, [livejournal.com profile] caseopaya, and L., with a good dinner, fine wine and then a visit to the Astor to see a double of Death at a Funeral and Black Sheep. The former was a quite impressive British-style cringe comedy where a serious of awkward situations and events collide into each other like a train wreck. The latter was a b-grade splatter film in the style of the early works of Peter Jackson; indeed it reminded me quite a lot of Bad Taste (except with zombie sheep), even down to the manorial house - indeed I suspect that it's even the same location (Gear House and Pukerua Bay respectively).

I keep meaning to see Black Sheep. But then I keep meaning to see Bad Taste as well. Do you think I should see Bad Taste before Black Sheep?

You might be interested in checking out the game for the rulesbook I illustrated. Please ignore the fact that sentence is poorly structured; it's been a long day.

I'm attempting to play even though I'm more than terrible at strategy games.

I'd say Bad Taste is a better film. Also has many, many quotable lines in it. I've modeled a hobbit in a D&D game "Derek of the (Malborough) Sounds" from a certain character in the film...

Hmmm.. There's no samples of your art (well, there's a map). It looks not unlike Shogun...
