Being poor(er) wouldn't so bad if you have family to associate with. The Xmas cheer becomes the gathering of kin. But if one is alienated from that group, even being well-to-do would not replace that loss.

Yeah, Tricky's timing could have been better. It was really quite sudden, and I didn't really get much of a good chance to prepare myself for it, or give appropriate farewells.
