A Journal Melange....
To finish off my year's work here I have decided to have a bit of holiday: Bali, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. All booked and ready to fly...
High weirdness in the tech world: Ministry email clients can send mail, but they are not being recieved at the other end. There is no bounce messages. Ditto to anything sent to Ministry email addresses. And I don't have the foggiest why this is happening. I've given a general appeal for "help" to both the nameserver and to the UNDP. Any comments by cluey techs in the livejournal world is thoroughly appreciated.
There is good news with the departure of a particular international worker (not a volunteer) from this place. A former Ambassador who betrayed his own country, he was an extraordinary lazy individual (I am struggling to find evidence that he did any work whatsoever), an empire-builder and one who had a terrible propensity to tell falsehoods in meetings. He also didn't like being caught out either. No, not at all.
In thesis news I have finished another subsection of a subchapter (hey, these subchapters are about 10,000 words each, OK?) on Enablement: Physical Disability and Technical Limitations. I must admit I've learnt a lot on the conceptual and empirical level on this matter over the past several days. There are some particularly good resources out there, not the least being the proceedings of the California State University's Technology and Persons With Disabilities Annual Conference".

Re: Squeeeeeeeee!!!
Why, thank you kindly for your words... I don't think it's a boring journal. My life is too adventurous for that... Sometimes I think I'm in a Joseph Conrad or Rudyard Kipling story.. Or perhaps more like Guy Boothby's "Dr. Nikola's Experiment"....
"...You have lately been in Ashanti, I perceive."
I admitted that I had, and went on to inquire how he had become aware of it; for as Kelleran had not known it until a few minutes before, I did not see how he could be acquainted with the fact.
"It is not a very difficult thing to tell," he answered, with a smile at my astonishment, "seeing that you carry about with you the mark of a Gwato spear. If it were necessary I could tell you some more things that would surprise you: for instance, I could tell you that the man who cut the said spear out for you was an amateur at his work, that he was left-handed, that he was short-sighted, and that he was recovering from malaria at the time. All this is plain to the eye; but I see our friend Kelleran fancies his dinner is getting cold, so we had better postpone our investigations for a more convenient opportunity."
... but dry? Well, I do have a serious disposition when it comes to serious things but with a finely tuned sense of the wry and absurd.... Go Moo-Quest!
Re: Squeeeeeeeee!!!
Yes, the mighty Moo Quest :) It is for quests like this that life is worth living for!!

Re: Squeeeeeeeee!!!
I've found another contribution to the moo-quest... This quiz..
Man Milk or Moo Milk?
Please note that some of images contained above are "pornographic" in a manner that should be obvious by the title.... Although the entire point of the quiz is to determine which are and which aren't.
Hmmmm.....
In the mean time it's great seeing what you come up with.
I am so happy we were able to inspire you from so far away.
When are you coming to visit us btw? When does good old Brisbane, Queensland, Australia feature on your list of places to go?

Re: Hmmmm.....
You'd better! ... I'm just finding things (good, bad, absurd) which are "moo"-related.
At risk of making another completely wrong quest direction the standard bovine here is called a "karau" (a buffalo). A cow however is refered to as "karau-malae", which translates as "foreign buffalo". Likewise a goat is a "bibi" (cute word) and a sheep is a bibi-malae (foreign goat).
Brisbane? I must confess I've given more than passing thought to this.. After all, Qld is the only Australian state I haven't visited.
Re: Hmmmm.....
So you have missed Queensland so far? That is such a pity. I mean if you are looking for the cafe experience it is true that Melbourne has the best examples of them but Brisbane and other Qld locales offer much. The coastline from Brisbane to Cairns is truly beautiful with many of those picturesque islands and beaches with white sand and clear blue water that show up on brochures.
Don't get me started :) I am a Brisbane girl born and bred and I have spent a lot of time trekking all over Australia but I just love Queensland in general.
If you make it here I will try to show you some of my favourite bits :)
Re: Hmmmm.....
I'd like to see those parts of Qld. Although I'm quite familiar with white sands and pristine beaches having spent a good twenty five years in Western Australia....Not to mention a year in East Timor!
Re: Hmmmm.....
I have done the drive from Brisbane to Cairns a couple of times. Stopping in small towns along the way and having a relaxing drive along the coast road.
Nothing like it :)
